Test your disc golf skills and help support the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Hillsboro at the Annual Brenen Jones Open on Saturday June 2nd, 2018 at Horning's Hideout! See the Details Below.
(Horning's Hideout will be open to the public during this event including all 3 disc golf courses and everyone including tournament participants will be required to pay the entry fee.)
Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length.
Relay For Life is a life-changing event that brings together more than 3.5 million people to: Celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer. The strength of survivors inspires others to continue to fight. Remember loved ones lost to the disease. At Relay, people who have walked alongside people battling cancer can grieve and find healing. Fight Back. We Relay because we have been touched by cancer and desperately want to put an end to the disease.
Oregon now has Three 18 Hole Disc Golf Courses at one facility, right here at Horning's!! This is the most 18 Hole Disc Golf courses at any one spot west of the Mississippi River! Not only that, Disc Golf Course Review has rated our Meadow Ridge Course among the top ten courses out of over 3,600 world wide!! DG Course Review, Click here!!
For those unfamiliar with Disc Golf, the disc is much like a Frisbee, and the target is a basket devise equipped with hanging chains above the basket to knock the disc into the basket. It's a great sport, and the courses are challenging, fun for both the professional disc golfer, families and novices of all ages (see Jane Horning making her very first putt!). As in the rest of our park, we are open every day for Disc Golf!
The courses are through both fields and through the woods, making for a great scenic hike with lots of family fun. Meadow Ridge is a championship course, a full par 3, par 4 and par 5 course. The next course is the Canyon course, a full par 3 to par 4 course, and the final course is the Highland Course, a challenging pitch and putt course (short distance but accuracy really counts) which is great fun for families! The Highland course also has solar lights on both the tee pads and targets, so it's a permanent night course too! Discs are available at Horning's to rent or buy, and we do have glow in the dark discs. A full day of play comes with our general entrance fee of only $4 per person, making this a very affordable sport for even a large family!
